Their Story

It was love at first site for Erwens. He was unusually early, let alone on time for class. He saw Emily walk in and thought to himself, wow she is so beautiful. Erwens pursued this girl with the radiant smile over the next four years of college. They enjoyed being friends in college. Having deep conversations over meals and doing homework together. However, Emily played hard to get. Graduation came and went and their relationship had not taken shape.

Erwens was working full-time and had plans to go back to Haiti. But Emily kept coming to his mind. He invited her to dinner to have one last meal with her to say goodbye. Little he did he know that that meal only fanned the flame of the feelings that they had for one another. After that, they dove right back into the deep conversations about life and their faith. Emily couldn’t ignore her feelings for him anymore and they finally became official! A short time later Erwens planned how he would ask Emily to marry him.

He knew that Emily’s family was really important to her, so he wanted to plan a proposal that was close to her home. They planned a trip to Connecticut and went strawberry picking with her and her family. He had a sign made that said “Emily, will you marry me?”. She admitted that she did see the sign but tried to contain her excitement. When the moment arrived and he asked her to marry him, his aunt was hiding in some hay-bails taking pictures of it all. Their family was able to share in this special moment too!

Giveaway Session

Over the summer, I had a giveaway for a couple session and these two won!  The timing couldn’t have been better! Not only did they win a photography session with me but also a bouquet and yummy macarons too! I partnered with Meghan with Meghan Rose Confections and Laura with Meadowbrook Floral Design. Their work is what really elevated this session.

I met Emily and Erwen’s at the Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs. We started bright and early to make sure we beat the afternoon rain. As soon as they got out of the car I knew we were going to have a lot of fun. We had an instant connection. Our bond over not being morning people and loving coffee was just one of the many connection points.

Emily and Erwens outfit choices of muted pinks and white perfectly complimented the bouquet and florals. I came around the car to show Emily the bouquet and her eyes widened. The tones were spot on. In the middle of the session they got to eat the macarons too! The look on their faces after the first bite was priceless. Erwens didn’t want to put them away for more photos. It was a definitely a hit.

I am so thankful that I met Emily and Erwens through this couples giveaway! I truly believe it was a God thing. When you two are back in the area together, we will definitely go out for coffee! Congratulations again on your engagement!
