My sweet friends Laura and Tim have waited a long time for little Peter William. And he is absolute perfection. He has a handsome little face. His ears and little nose are perfectly shaped and adorable. Laura and Tim love their baby with everything that is in them and Peter couldn’t ask for better parents. They have waited over 4 years for their happy and healthy little boy.
In 2014, Laura had shared the “baby bump” pictures on social media and everyone was thrilled for her and Tim. But right before Mother’s Day, Laura bravely shared with the world that she had lost her first baby. I was absolutely heartbroken for her. You know when a friend is going through something difficult and you say, “I’ll pray for you”, but you sort of just forget to pray? You don’t mean to. You wish them the best, but since it isn’t close to home and in the business of life it gets lost in the shuffle. This wasn’t the case for me. I’m not saying, “Oh look at me I remembered her”. But Laura was especially etched on my heart. She would consistently come to mind for me to pray for her health and healing, physically and emotionally through this long trial in her life.
Laura was expecting a second time but was rushed to the emergency room for a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. And a third time, she found out she was pregnant again but lost this baby too. Early on, after her first miscarriage, one of Laura’s friends who had also struggled with the same loss, gave her flower seeds to plant to celebrate her babies birth months. Laura started her calligraphy business during this healing period and named it “Marigold & Aster”, after her first two babies birth month flowers.
Laura’s pregnancy with Peter wasn’t an easy one, she had to take shots and was on careful watch. On April 17, 2018, Peter was born. “We will sing for joy over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.” Psalm 20:4. Peter’s long awaited arrival brought excitement, relief, comfort and pure joy.
It was an honor to photograph this precious family. Their unconditional love and peace was evident through their tired eyes and smiles when I met with them to take their photos. Peter’s nursery was filled with happiness and laughter. Just thinking about it makes me cry tears of joy. It is a privilege to share these photos with you and share their story.
