The voices of guests singing of unconditional love and hymns of worship echoed over the riverbank. Friends and family with teary eyes and happy hearts were gathered to celebrate the covenant of marriage between Brittany and Kevin. Each moment of their wedding day was personal and heartfelt. Leading up to the wedding, Brittany shared some of the details with me about the ceremony, special guests and dances. I knew I was going to cry at some point. And I did. A few times.
One of the guests of honor was Kevin’s daughter Tatiana. She’s a beautiful young lady and you can’t mistake her for Kevin’s “mini-me”. Her personality and calm demeanor mirrors Kevin’s easygoing spirit. Tatiana followed the eight sweet flower girls down toward the aisle and paused. Brittany made her grand entrance with a huge smile on her face as the breeze picked up the bottom of her beautiful gown and made the moment even more lovely. Tatiana waited for Brittany at the end of the aisle and they walked down together toward a very proud dad and groom.
You may remember Brittany and Kevin’s engagement story. Kevin was awestruck by Brittany from the first day he laid eyes on her. As he looked into her eyes at the alter, he said, “You’re glowing, just like on the day we met”. Brittany’s personality and smile are truly radiant. She is full of life. She’s extremely compassionate, silly and joyful.
I met Brittany in college. She was my freshmen year resident assistant and she was a senior. She was so thoughtful. She would leave notes under our doors at night so that we would wake up with an encouraging verse or quote to start off the day. She gave the best wiggle hugs and always had a listening ear. Her sisters echoed her magnetic and humble personality during the reception. They joked that she always had entourages of friends because she lets people “come as they are”. Kevin, you are a perfect match for Brittany. You have a kind heart and are a true friend. Your steadfast love and devotion to your close relationships and to the Lord are extremely admirable.
Brittany and Kevin, it was such an honor to be a part of your wedding day. Your friends and family all adore you and are also wonderful people to be around! I felt part of the family as soon as I stepped onto the property. I know that your marriage is already blessed because just as you sang in front of your closest guests, you’ve already invited Christ to be the center. I pray that the joy and excitement that you had on your special day is only magnified throughout your marriage.
